Trent Reznor remembers James Woolley after death

Former Nine Inch Nails tour group keyboardist James Woolley died over the weekend, his ex-wife confirmed when she posted a note via Facebook saying, “He brought coolness to playing keyboards, which isn’t as easy to do as playing guitar or drums. Those years were truly magical and quite an adventure.”

Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor spoke with Rolling Stone about Woolley’s death and remembered the keyboardist. “Terrible news regarding James,” he said. “I hadn’t crossed paths with him for some time, but always thought of him fondly,” Reznor said. “He was a fun character to be around, a solid musician and a genuinely good guy. Those of us from that era of the band have been sharing ‘James’ stories … lots of laughs and love and sadness. Wishing his family the very best.”

Woolley toured with the rock band from 1991 through 1994, including the band’s famous ’94 Woodstock set. Since then, Woolley played and produced for a variety of other bands and worked as a sound designer for The Simpsons.
