Time too tight for typing? These voice to text apps have you covered

Let’s face it, time is precious right now. If you still have staff out on furlough or find yourself with a larger than normal workload due to the havoc wreaked by the coronavirus pandemic, any app that can lighten your load and help you to work more efficiently has to be worth a second look.

Whether you want to speed up the process of drafting the description for your new small business app or have a brief to prepare for your app designer, these voice-to-text apps can free you from your keyword so you can talk rather than type and tick those jobs off a lot quicker. Here are some of the best:

Speechnotes

The Speechnotes app might be familiar to you as it has been around for a while now. It comes in a free version (with ads) or ad free subscription option, so you can take it for a test drive before committing if voice to text is new to you.

This app is perfect for those longer texts that you need to get ticked off, such as briefing documents, presentations or web copy ideas. It will take everything you say and return it to you as a text document. Handily, you can also instruct it to add relevant punctuation marks by inserting a verbal command as you speak.

SpeechTexter

When you’re on the go but have a tonne of emails to reply to or find yourself driving with a great idea for a social media post, SpeechTexter is a lifesaver. This clever app uses Google technology to turn your words into text in more than 60 languages. It claims to have 95% accuracy so your text should be almost word perfect. Use it for sending quick text messages, compiling social media posts or responding to emails.

Dragon

Dragon is a well-known voice to text app for iOS and Android and was an early pioneer of the technology. It comes in two formats, Dragon Anywhere and Dragon Professional, which is designed specifically for business users. It is said to be the equivalent of typing 160 words per minute and has an impressive 99% accuracy rating. This app has lots of handy features, such as the ability to import words. The app will also learn you voice and adapt to it as you use it more.
