HTC Nexus Sailfish leak hints at 1080p display and Snapdragon 820 chipset

The file shared on Twitter by Evan Blass confirms HTC Sailfish’s display density as 420 ppi which confirms the display will 5.2 or 5.3-inches and will support full HD resolution. Google is likely to use Quad HD resolution panel on the flagship HTC Marlin device.

The build.prop also lists processor as MSM8996, which currently indicates Snapdragon 820 SoC. With Qualcomm having announced the updated Snapdragon 821 chipset, Google could even opt for that.

While Google announced Nexus 6P with flagship specifications and Nexus 5X lower resolution display and slightly slower prcoessor last year, the approach seems to have changed a bit. The leaked image by Evan Blass hints at HTC Marlin coming with flagship specifications and larger display while HTC Sailfish will offer smaller display with full HD resolution but faster CPU and better memory.

It’s unclear why Google has had a sudden change of heart with its Nexus range but if these rumours are right, HTC Sailfish could well become the best 5.2-inch smartphone in the market when it launches sometime later this year.
