Nat Geo Wild will be exploring a new locale with “Aloha Vet,” a six-episode series set to air in Spring 2015. The series follows Dr. Sims, a veterinarian, as he traverses the mountains, beaches and jungles of Hawaii to help domestic and wild animals.

“’Aloha Vet’ joins the Nat Geo Wild portfolio of programming, which spans from awe inspiring veterinarians making a difference every day, to blue chip specials from our Destination Wild franchise, to explorers who have dedicated their lives to wildlife,” said Geoff Daniels, EVP and general manager of the net, making the announcement. “Dr. Sims is the perfect addition the Wild family.”

“We’re so excited to bring Dr. Sims’ unique story to the Nat Geo Wild audience, the perfect home for this special docu-series,” added Mike Aho, senior vice president & executive producer of factual entertainment at Shine. “Dr. Sims is beloved in Hawaii, where he flies from island to island, rescuing animals of all sizes and taking care of them regardless of whether their owners can pay his fee or not.”

“Aloha Vet” is produced by Shine America for Nat Geo Wild, and marks Shine’s first docu-series. Eden Gaha and Mike Aho will executive produce for Shine America, with Tracy Rudolph as executive producer for Nat Geo Wild.
