'This is not a finger-pointing exercise' – Leas Ceann Comhairle demands respect from Stephen Donnelly
The Leas Ceann Comhairle was quick to put the Health Minister in his place.
Health Minister Stephen Donnelly was determined to make a response in the Dáil on Wednesday, despite the Leas Ceann Comhairle's refusal; leading to a heated moment between the two.
After Donnelly refused to take no for an answer, Leas-Cheann Comhairle Catherine Connolly was quick to remind him of the rules.
"You don't tell the Ceann Comhairle what you're doing." The Ceann Comhairle said.
"Please a little respect for the chair, this is not a finger-pointing exercise."
As a compromise, Mrs Connelly then offered the Health Minister 20 seconds to answer.
"I would note that when you were on the floor you were given a lot more than 20 seconds yourself." Donnelly responded.
The response was not warmly received by the Leas Ceann Comhairle, who decided enough opportunities had been given to the Health Minister.
