Free Toy Check Out for Teachers

Donation protected
My name is Liza and I am the owner of Toybrary Austin.

My mission is to help preschool children learn and develop in the best way possible. In order to do this, I want to help their teachers. Specifically, I want to raise funds for teacher memberships to Toybrary Austin. This will offer teachers and their students access to over 1000 educational toys and materials for free!

I was a pre-school teacher and director for many years, and discovered Austin's former toy lending library during that time. As an educator, I thought it was the most brilliant idea I'd ever seen. I decided to open Toybrary Austin in order to help children learn and grow through playing with new educational materials on a regular basis.

A child’s brain grows at an explosive rate during the first few years of life. New experiences shape the neural networks for language, reasoning, problem solving, and moral values. Brain development is enhanced by games and fun activities, and that’s what Toybrary Austin offers: the opportunity to learn and develop through interaction with new educational toys. These experiences help a child’s brain develop positively.

Right now there are plenty of pre-school teachers with the education and passion to help children’s brains develop, but they don't have access to the variety of materials that we have at Toybrary Austin. I want to give them those resources, and I need your help.

Many teachers spend their own money investing in materials because they want the best for their students. Unfortunately, as we all know, teacher salaries are already so low that they can hardly afford to do this. New teachers, especially, need extra support and materials in their classrooms, as they don't have the advantage of many years of collecting their own items.

The $8,000 raised through this campaign will fund teacher scholarships to Toybrary Austin for 32 teachers for 6 months each.
Interested teacher applicants from both public and private pre-schools will be asked to write a one page essay on why they'd like to receive a scholarship and how they would use it.

You can do something to improve Pre-K education now!

Pre-K education for all is a hot topic right now because we know that what happens in these early years is crucial to a child’s brain development.

By helping fund this campaign, you will be helping many children grow, learn, and thrive. Numerous economic studies show a rate of return of $7 or more on each dollar invested in early childhood education due to a reduced need for spending on services like remedial education, grade repetition, and
special education, as well as increased productivity and earnings for these children as adults.

Your contribution will fund scholarships to Toybrary Austin for carefully selected Pre-K teachers, directly benefitting both the teachers and the kids in their classes.
