Saint Louis Chess Club Temporary Closing - Employee Tested Positive For COVID-19

The Saint Louis Chess Club is temporarily closed to the public until further notice.  On Tuesday July 14th we were informed that an employee tested positive for COVID-19.  While the employee has been asymptomatic, we have taken immediate steps to ensure that all of our staff, members and visitors are safe and have been notified through our contact tracing database.

As soon as we heard the news of our employee, we implemented our emergency procedures and have brought in a specialized crew to deep clean and sanitize our entire space.

While the compromised employee’s contact with the public and our staff was minimal we have extended efforts to ensure every staff member that came in contact with the employee gets tested and cleared before returning to work.

Prior to our reopening last month we instituted a number of new safety measures and guest guidelines in accordance with The City of Saint Louis Health Commissioner's Order No.10.  Consistent with CDC guidelines we will continue to maintain all cleaning and sanitization procedures during this closure and we plan to closely monitor all staff, vendors and guests when we reopen to ensure that everyone feels safe and protected in our building.

We would like to thank everyone for their understanding during this difficult time as well as those who have reached out to show your support.  We are proud to be a member of the Saint Louis community and look forward to welcoming everyone back soon.
