NS subsidiary NedTrain has opened the first of four new national rail ‘technical centers’ in Utrecht.

New depot facilities are being built in The Hague, Zwolle, Nijmegen and Utrecht to reduce delays on the network caused by common train repairs and maintenance work.

On September 8, the first technical center opened close to Utrecht Central station.

BAM Utiliteitsbouw, which built the new facility at Utrecht, is scheduled to start construction in The Hague by the end of 2014.

Contracts for the final two technical centers have not yet been awarded.
