In first weekend of sale, Apple sells 10 million iPhone 6, 6 Plus devices
Apple has sold 10 million of its latest iPhones in the first weekend of sales, the company announced on Monday.

It comes just a week after the Cupertino, Calif.-based electronics giant said four million devices were sold in the first 24 hours after pre-orders opened on September 12.
The 4.7-inch iPhone 6 and the larger 5.5-inch iPhone 6 Plus went on sale in retail stores a week later on September 19.
Apple said the sales hit a "new record" for the company, but did not break down the sales for each device.
By comparison, Apple said following the first weekend of iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c sales it sold nine million devices in the first weekend. That initial supply dried up quickly, with many online orders being pushed back to mid-to-late October.
Apple chief executive Tim Cook said he "couldn't be happier" with the iPhone sales, saying that they "exceeded our expectations."
Regarding orders, however, with the near inevitable fact that some sales would not be fulfilled by the first weekend, Cook added: "While our team managed the manufacturing ramp better than ever before, we could have sold many more iPhones with greater supply and we are working hard to fill orders as quickly as possible."
iPhone remains the most important unit for Apple, as the division generates about 53 percent of the company's revenue, as of its fiscal third-quarter.
