Man convicted 8 times for indecent acts now facing new charges

VANCOUVER – A prolific offender is facing new charges in connection with recent flashing incidents at a popular Nanaimo beach park.

A young woman called police after a man exposed himself to her as she walked along a beach trail at Westwood Lake.

Mark Nieuwejaar has now been charged with three counts of committing an indecent act in public. Seven years ago he was acquitted of indecent exposure.

The 53-year-old has been convicted eight time for indecent acts and in 1985 he was convicted of two counts of sexual assault.
