Massive tax credits for Tesla’s proposed battery factory, if approved by the state legislature, could be partly paid for by reducing Nevada’s four-year film tax credit program from $80 million to $10 million.

Nevada’s incentives include a 15% transferable tax credit for qualified spending; 19% maximum tax credit with bonuses; 12% credit on nonresident above-the-line wages and benefits; 12% credit on nonresident below-the-line wages and benefits through 2015, reduced to 10% in 2016 and 8% in 2017; a $6 million project cap with a $20 million annual cap with remaining credits that can be carried over to following years; a $750,000 maximum compensation cap per individual; and a sunset date of Dec. 31, 2017.
