In downtown Vancouver, tall, thin towers fill the core while preserving views of the mountains and harbour.

Former city councillor and SFU professor Gordon Price says affordability is the biggest challenge facing Vancouver.

“The question is, ‘affordable for whom?’ Clearly people are buying this stuff, so for them it’s affordable, but is it affordable for families with children?’ he says.

Price says if he could change anything about downtown Vancouver, it’s that there’s too much green glass on towers.

“Where’s the colour? I do remember thinking that we are approving this, it’s basically shades of grey and green.”
