The Chicago Stumbler worked with NBC 5 Investigates to document poor sidewalk conditions in the city for a two-part series. In the first installment (March 17, 2014), DePaul student journalists used smartphones and Google Glass to document the sidewalks and post them to the Stumbler.

NBC Chicago investigative reporter Chris Coffey used public documents to confirm that the city has spent $18 million to repair sidewalks between 2008 and 2013 but also paid $6 million during that time to people who’ve injured themselves on poorly maintained sidewalks.

The Chicago Stumbler teamed with NBC 5 Investigates for a two-part series in Marcha nd May 2014 examining the city’s poor sidewalk conditions.

This map indicates where each sidewalk photographed by our team is located in Chicago and which Red Line stop it is near. The map will be updated as more photos are posted on the site. You also can read stories about issues with sidewalk repair on our sister site, The Red Line Project.
