Yoga and Meditation Techniques

Many wonder why it is necessary to meditate after practicing Yoga asanas/ postures. One of the various benefits of practicing yoga asanas/ postures is the fact that it eases ourselves into Yoga meditation techniques effortlessly. Meditation being one of the main aspects of Yoga, it's crucial that we sit for meditation after practising Yoga asanas and pranayama; else it is like preparing our dinner but not eating it! In meditation one delves deep into the self. There are many kinds of meditations, although in substance they bear similar methods.

Many scholars believe that yoga dates back over 5,000 years to the beginning of human civilization. Scholars believe that yoga grew out of stone age Shamanism, because of the cultural similarities between Modern Hinduism and Mehrgahr, a neolithic settlement (in what is now Afghanisthan). In fact, much of Hindu ideas , rituals and symbols of today appear to have their roots in this shamanistic culture of Mehrgahr.

Early yoga and archaic shamanism had much in common as both sought to transcend the human condition. The main goal of shamanism was to cure members of the community and act as religious practitioners. Archaic yoga was also group oriented, as it attempted to congregate the cosmic order to daily living. Later, yoga evolved in to a more inward experience, and yogis focussed on their individual enlightenment and salvation.

Yoga is the most diversified spiritual practise in the world. Crossing over many cultures (including Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism and the West). Yoga also extends over multiple languages such as Hindu, Tibetan, Bengali, Sanskrit, Tamil, Prakit, Marathi and Pali. The yogic tradition continues to proliferate and spread its message of peace to this very day.

Yog Nisarga provides opportunities to experience yogic lifestyle while getting International Yoga certification with Yoga Vacation in India at the same time. The student will return home eager to share what they learned from the experience. The teachers are qualified in Ashtanga Vinyasa Flow Style of Yoga. They are there to support every student both in and out of the classroom; feeling guided and supported throughout the entire course. At Yog Nisarga, a serene and compassionate learning environment is provided that helps students to make that quantum leap in the study and practice of Yoga.

In the 200-hours residential Yoga teacher training course, the student will be led through an in-depth exploration of the roots, ideology and postures of Yoga, as well as a journey into one’s own self and heart. This is a religious journey that gives one the sound foundational knowledge of Yoga, and helps students inculcate integrity, strength and confidence. Teachers are committed to creating a rich learning experience that will make the transition to teaching their own classes much easier and natural with Yog Nisarga`s drop in yoga classes.

Yoga is a path for bringing the body, mind and soul into harmony, and for exploring one’s inner being. To accomplish this, each student will need an understanding of its many facets--philosophy, yama, niyama, asana, pranayama, pratyahara, dharana, dhyana and samadhi. Ultimately, though, Yoga revolves around the journey towards self-realization.
