How long have you been doing CrossFit?
“I started last year and completed six months before taking a leave of absence. I returned in January and have been running strong ever since. That’s about 15 months total.”

How did you first discover CrossFit and what made you decide to start?
“I discovered Crossfit browsing through a magazine. I was looking for a challenge and now I have one.”

Tell us about your sports/fitness background:
“Unfortunately, there’s nothing to tell. Lol.”

What sorts of positive changes (mental, physical, emotional) have you noticed in your life since getting involved at No Excuses?
“Physically, I was a scrawny kid all my life and I have finally been able to build muscle and people actually notice the changes. Mentally, I feel able to achieve things that I would have formerly ruled out as impossible for me to do. Overall, I have more confidence in my abilities and that alone is a game-changer.”

What keeps you coming back and motivated?
“I really love the workouts because I can see and feel myself improving. The people are beyond awesome and it’s inspiring to see the positive transformations happening for myself and others at NECF.”

In what other ways do you use your fitness?
“I use it as motivation to excel in my career and relationship with others by reminding myself that if a non-athelete like me can do Crossfit then I can do anything with the right mindset.”

Who or what motivates/inspires you?
“The other athletes and coaches, who want to see me do my best.”

Coach Brandon’s Take:
“Quy is one of the most dedicated members at the gym. He always finds time to hit a WOD despite juggling school and work. Because of his dedication, Quy has made tremendous progress in the gym. His strength has improved tremendously and he’s starting to develop some high-skill gymnastic movements. Quy’s hard work, willingness to accept coaching and his fun-loving personality make him a pleasure to coach.”
