When The Customer Is Queen, Product Companies Must Practice Gender Equality To Earn Her Business

This article is more than 7 years old.

Amy Cross created the app Buy Up Index to showcase which companies are committed to promoting, supporting, and highlighting women.  In part one of VProud’s honest conversation with its founder, Amy Cross, we learned about the importance of supporting companies and brands that promote and are invested in gender equality.  That means, focusing our dollars on companies that are providing good family leave policies, salary equality, transparency and have women in the most senior positions. Companies care what women think because according to Cross, women are responsible for “73-85% of consumer purchases”.  If women all voted with their wallets and only supported companies that were committed to gender equality, the other companies might begin to change their corporate policies and culture in order to compete.  Ladies, it is 2017.  Every day, each of us has the ability to make a difference by spending our hard-earned dollars in a thoughtful way to make the world a better place for women.
