Tully -- Song Mountain Resort and Labrador Mountain, two Central New York ski resorts, have merged into one corporate entity, it was announced today.

Peter Harris, president of Song, will become president and general manager of both ski slopes. No plans for wholesale changes to operating policies and staffing at either mountain are planned.

One new development, though, is the introduction of a new "Inter-Mountain Passport," full season pass. The pass will be interchangeable without restrictions at both mountains.
"You will literally get two mountains for the price of one," Harris said.

Peter Harris will be the president and general manager of both Song and Labrador Mountains.

The Wilson family first opened Labrador Mountain in Truxton in 1956. Bruce and Susan Wilson have owned and operated the mountain since 1990. The couple has agreed to remain in their current management positions for the 2014-15 season.

"Throughout our discussions, it became clear that our philosophies are more similar than dissimilar," Bruce Wilson said. "Though my family has been running Labrador Mountain since its inception, it became obvious that this consolidation with Song should and would be the next logical step. Certainly, 2014-15 will be a key, transitional season and I'm thrilled Peter has asked Sue and me to stay on."

Labrador offers 22 varied slopes and trails for all levels of skiers and snowboarders. It has six lifts. Song has 24 trails and five lifts.

Harris has spent nearly his entire career in ski center operations. He owned and operated the Snow Ridge Ski Area in Turin, N.Y. from 1986 to 2006. He purchased Song, located in Tully, in 2000.

Harris said both mountains are preparing for the upcoming season. Early season discounted passes are on sale now.

He said staff from both Song and Labrador will be at The Ski Company's Annual $3 million Ski & Board Sale at the New York State Fairgrounds Sept. 12-14. He said the Inter-Mountain Passport as well as other special deals will be available at the show.
