Eco parks and conservation wetlands, historic streets and quirky neighbourhoods – 32 of Canada’s most beloved public spaces are battling it out for the title of Canada’s favourite place.
Voting opened Wednesday for the Canadian Institute of Planners’ (CIP) annual Great Places in Canada contest.
Through the contest, CIP hopes to highlight the work of city planners.

Winners will be chosen in various categories (public spaces, neighbourhoods and streets) by a panel of professional planners. The People’s Choice award will be determined by popular vote.
Canadians have until Sept. 25 to place their vote, with winners being announced on Nov. 7 in conjunction with World Town Planning Day.
