Hello, friends! Thank you so very much for your interest in me and my books! I live near Charlottesville, Virginia, among the foothills of the glorious Blue Ridge Mountains with my wife and four delightful daughters. My oldest daughter is featured prominently as Topangah in "Where Mountain Meets the Sea," my first Native American-inspired YA novel.

As a retired USAF Lieutenant Colonel with a doctorate in Educational Leadership & Administration, I have devoted my life to public service — advocacy for human rights, social justice, and peace — and leadership in areas like sustainable earth, tolerance, equality, cross-cultural collaboration, and community building. I believe love brings leadership to life, I believe in the strength and power of our community, and I believe in the good we create when we forge relationships and partnerships that work together for a better world.

Again, thank you for dropping by. I do hope you have lots of fun reading my books!

I recommend "Where Mountain Meets the Sea," by Jack King

Where Mountain Meets the Sea is a magical, Native American inspired fantasy that celebrates brave choices and will appeal to a wide variety of readers of all ages! It can easily be enjoyed by teenagers as well as adults. It is set on the top of a grand mesa in the four corners region of America’s southwest where Sani, a very old and very wise Navajo man, prepares his adopted granddaughter, Topangah, a young Native American, Tongva girl of twelve, to take her very special place among her people. With the help of a group of gathered spirit guides (Eagle, Buffalo, Bear, Sasq’ets, Wolf, Turtle, and Beaver), Sani introduces Topangah to the great teachings of the Anishinabek’s Seven Grandfathers, to help her learn important lessons about life, love, and leadership. This book is strong in bringing forward Native American teachings in a simple story form. It is a touching story of the passing down through generations of traditional teachings. The story helps the reader to feel the ancient teachings that are almost lost and yet still savable with efforts. In our constant scurrying about in our material world delusions it reminds us what is truly important in the world. This book inspired me and moved me on a deep level.

Just as Plato had Socrates, a young person destined to be a great leader for her people, receives wisdom from Sani, an elder who understands the lessons of the world. Topangah is a good student with many questions and an observant nature. She transforms her life with love for the community. She takes a journey of transformation, and is instructed in turn by the iconic forces of our world: Eagle, bear, buffalo and more. She discovers that the longest journey is one from the head to the heart, but it is a meaningful path with profound consequences. We all begin with a first step taken consciously.

Read Dr. Jack King’s exploration of native wisdom and servant leadership. Your heart will be touched. You will find leadership lessons that you won’t acquire through webinars and corporate retreats. You may take another big step, like I did, from your head to your heart.

This book gives the wisdom of the First Peoples of the Americas. A new fiction for young adults without blood suckers or half teen half wolves, instead a mentor and a student learning lives' truths for today and tomorrow.
