Topic- Nurses: Frontline Caregivers
(group discussions)

Nursing is integral to patient care and is delivered in various settings. Nurses have tremendous influence over a patient’s healthcare experience, which is why nurses recognize the importance of staying informed on current events and social realities for their patients. World news events like the Flint Water Crisis, Black Lives Matter protests, Immigration Reform debates, and the Political Elections all impact and affect how patients view the world around them. All of which can serve as inside clues into understanding health disparities and possible solutions to building patient/provider trust with diverse communities.
