A prayer of rejoicing

Today, O God, may we drink from the cup of your salvation, rejoice in the company of your saints and delight in the sacrifice of your praise. Amen.

Polycarp of Smyrna (c. 155)

A prayer that we will seek for God

Holy God, you are our greatest treasure, may we search you out in the darkness of our pain and in our light-filled joy, and in the everyday ordinariness of our lives.
When we do not, or cannot, or do so without enthusiasm,
touch us again with the flame of your love and enliven us.
You made us to be like you, to bear your love and to be your faithful witnesses,
may all that we are, and do and long to be, give you glory and praise. Amen.

Helen Cameron, District Chair, Northampton District

A prayer that we be emptied and filled with love of God

Precious Jesus,
in you we have found the treasure the world discounts.
Rather than seek cheap substitutes
in the world’s bargain basements,
may your enticing beauty lead us to great sacrifices
so that, having nothing, we may possess everything
as we are embraced by you. Amen.

Andrew Lunn, District Chair, Manchester and Stockport District
