Canton City Schools to consider adding new school resource assistants

CantonRep.com staff report

The Canton City School District wants to bolster its security by adding new school resource assistants.

School board members will consider creating the new position tonight during its board meeting that begins at 6 p.m. The meeting will be held in the commons at Timken High School at 521 Tuscarawas St. W.

According to a job posting listed on the school’s website, the district is seeking to hire three school resource assistants whose duties would include monitoring student behavior inside the school as well as during in-school suspension and after-school activities, conducting home visits to address truancy or discipline issues and enforcing student code of conduct and school policies.

The school board also is expected tonight to accept the resignations of three principals: Sandy Womack, who was slated to become a principal at Compton Learning Center, Daniel Lowmiller, who was slated to become the principal at Stone Elementary, and Andrea Bishop, principal of Belden Elementary. All three have taken new jobs outside the district.
