Go Banana, a UK-based marketplace for building supplies, recently launched its equity crowdfunding campaign on Seedrs. The proptech platform, which describes itself as the “Amazon for building supplies,” is currently seeking £250,000 as it prepares to expand its services. The company reports that it is aiming to revolutionize how builders and other trade professionals shop online for their supplies. It offers a free search tool for builders and DIY’ers looking to scan the market to find supplies at the best price.
“Go Banana looks to fill a gap in the market and gives the ability to compare prices, to shop smart, and save money. Our experience and research suggests that building materials can cost upwards of 40% on a building project.”
Phoebe Bull, Co-founder and Director of Business Development at Go Banana, stated:
“There was no one stop shop that enabled tradesmen to compare building supplies. Go Banana solves this problem by simplifying the shopping experience through a free search tool and online marketplace that can be used on any device anywhere and at any time. It helps tradesmen to plan in advance for projects, and to quickly estimate costs, not only saving them money but also giving them immediate access to hundreds of thousands of products.”
Funds from the campaign will be used to further develop the platform, as well as start designing a smartphone app. Since its launch, the funding round has already attracted nearly £85,000. It is set to close later this summer.
