The lake has been totally dry since July 4 due to the dry spell.

A source from the Sarawak Forestry Corporation said this is the third time the lake has dried up this year.

The first was from March 5-30 followed by May 12-20. Loagan Bunut in Miri Division is Sarawak’s largest natural lake and the 65ha national park has one of the most unusual aquatic ecosystems in Malaysia.

The national park is temporarily closed to visitors.
