Access Bank to raise N70bn as lenders bolster capital: Access Bank is the latest Nigerian lender seeking to boost its capital levels as the bank’s management is considering using a rights issue of NGN60-70 billion ($370-430 million). The exercise is scheduled for Q42014 as the bank attempts to raise  26.31 percent of its current market cap. Source: Businessday

Diamond Bank Invests $465m In Aba Power Project: Geometric Power Ltd, a company chaired by former Minister of Power, Prof. Barth Nnaji, will soon commission its power plant in Osisioma Aba industrial area in Aba, Abia State. Diamond Bank Plc is said to have invested $465 million in the project with a view to providing steady 24-hour power supply to Aba the major industrial hub of the southeast. NNPC to step up work on Abuja-Kaduna-Kano gas pipeline project: The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has initiated steps to fast track its construction of a pipeline to convey gas from Abuja through Kaduna to Kano under the Federal Government’s gas master plan. As part of the new steps, the NNPC said it had established a project steering committee which would take up the responsibility to ensure efficient and accelerated implementation of the Abuja-Kaduna-Kano (AKK) gas pipeline project. FG and Brazilian Benco Energy sign MoU on 700MW power plant: The Federal Government has signed a N144bn Memorandum of Understanding with Benco Energy Limited of Brazil to construct a 700 megawatts power plant in Nigeria. The plant will be built in Bayelsa State and will have a construction period of three years. The President, Benco Energy Limited, Brazil, Mr. Rodrigo Badew explained that the plant would be gas and vapour-fired. Source: Punch

BOA Disbursed N18b To 471,000 Farmers In 4yrs: Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the Bank Of Agriculture (BOA), Dr. Mohammed Santuraki has disclosed that the bank had over N18 billion in loans to about 471,000 farmers in the agriculture business throughout Nigeria, creating about 2.4 million jobs.
