This List Details All the Windows Features You Can Safely Disable

Windows is a big operating system that caters to a billion and a half people. As such, there are a lot of components built in that you might not necessarily need. There’s actually a place where you can remove many components of Windows if you don’t need them, to lighten your computer’s load.

Windows comes with a lot of bundled software that’s entirely optional. You can find a list of Windows features that you can selectively disable by doing the following:

  1. Open up the Control Panel by pressing the Windows key (or opening the Start menu/screen if you don’t have one) and typing “Control Panel”.

  2. In the left-side panel, select “Turn Windows features on or off.”

  3. Disable features by unchecking them on the left.

Now, it’s worth pointing out that some of these features shouldn’t be disabled, even if you don’t recognize them. For example, the .NET framework is frequently used by PC games, even if they don’t draw attention to it. Fortunately, Windows how-to site 7Tutorials has a guide on which of these features can be disabled, and which might be helpful to you behind the scenes. Check it out at the source link.
