Mobile food orders expanding to other locations at Disney’s Animal Kingdom

When Pandora – The World of Avatar opens on May 27th, it will include Disney’s first mobile food orders dining location that will let your food ahead of time on your mobile device for pick up without waiting in queue. Satu’li Canteen, which includes yummy Bao Buns and build-to-order meals, is the first location. Soon Disney will be adding Pizzafari, Flame Tree Barbecue, and Restaurantosaurus to the app.

The ability to place your mobile order is located on the My Disney Experience app, the same place you make your Facepass reservations. You can review menu items, customize your order, and pre-pay for the meal right within the app.

Once you arrive at the location, tell the app “I’m Here” and the kitchen will be notified to start preparing your meal. When it’s ready, the MDE app will alert you to pick up your meal at the Mobile Order window.

There are some restrictions. You must pay via credit card and those with special dietary restrictions or who want to use discounts or dining plan entitlements will have to order in person at a cashier.

Disney hopes to resolve those restrictions with improvements to the app. But it should be a big time saver for those of us who qualify.
