Set sail with Bailey Boat Cat

Yes, cats have been crew members for thousands of years. But most of my predecessors were brought aboard to exterminate mice and rats. I, on the other hand, bring so much more to the party.

Purr-lease, it’s not even close. Cats are far superior. Cats are smaller and can get anywhere. We can easily climb masts to fix sails and fit in the bilge. We don’t panic like humans in times of crisis, and most importantly, we are a calming influence to the rest of the crew with our purring.

I adopted the humans when I was 10 months old. Within a couple of weeks I went on my first boat ride. The truth is I LOVE being on the boat!

Errm… Yes, very embarrassingly! I fell in one evening in the marina when I sneaked out a porthole for an adventure. (The humans have wised up to this now and have barriers to stop me.) The other occasion was very recently when I got too comfy and fell asleep and fell in!

Oh definitely the freedom. I love being outside and watching all the wildlife and the stunning scenery and sunsets. Nothing beats being out on water. We’ve been lucky enough to see sea turtles and dolphins, starfish, crabs and thousands of fish.

Well I LIVE on the boat. If we’re out sailing and I’m outside I wear it, mainly so that if I was to fall overboard the humans have something to grab onto. I’ve ended up in the water on occasions but I’m only ever allowed outside if the humans are there (annoyingly) supervising that I don’t go hopping off onto other people’s boats.

I am! Obviously! My dad’s the Captain, mum’s the First Mate. I’m the Admiral!

I’d like to sail the seven seas in my beloved Nocturne. I want my humans to learn how to live a sustainable life and for us to meet new furiends from all around. Lately, I’ve been fielding purrs from the French Navy; being an admiral has attracted their attention. I’m just holding out for a call on their next opening on an aircraft carrier.

A very pawesome senior-editor at Adlard Coles (a division of Bloomsbury Publishing) saw my blog and got in contact with me asking if I would be interested in writing a book! My human-mum is an aspiring writer and is a little envious I got a book deal before she did!
