CHÂTEAU DU SEUIL PARTNER OF THE INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL OF AIX EN PROVENCE

Château du Seuil - Provence

Situated just a few kilometers from Aix-en-Provence, Château du Seuil is, for the first time, partner of the prestigious International Festival d’Art Lyrique.

Owners Agnès and Robert Daussun explain: “Since we acquired the estate in 2014, the revitalisation of its viticultural activity has been orientated towards excellence. It goes hand in hand with the desire to enhance the reputation of the region of Aix, its resources, its production and its talent. The notoriety of Aix-en-Provence owes much to its parliamentary and university traditions, its exceptional architectural heritage and the welcome that it has extended to an artistic expression of international renown. An eagerness to promote the quality of its natural environment, already sublimely depicted in Cézanne’s paintings, and showcase its wines and terroir, are part of a shared willingness to promote the immense cultural wealth of the city. The significance of the partnership with the Festival d’Aix is reflected in the shared common values – high standards creativity and a willingness to take risks.”

About the International Festival d’Art Lyrique of Aix-en-Provence

Created in 1948, the International Festival d’Art Lyrique is a festival devoted to opera and classical music that takes place every year in Aix-en-Provence.  It is one of the biggest opera and music festivals in Europe, and is famous worldwide.  Nominated European Cultural Ambassador in 2013 and Best Opera Festival in 2014, the purpose of the Festival of Aix is to “make opera a living experience, an art that gives meaning to the world.” The Festival is therefore committed to an approach with a clear philosophy: thinking of opera as a living art.

The 69th Festival of Aix-en-Provence will take place from 3−22 July 2017.

About Château du Seuil

Château du Seuil, an architectural gem dating back to the 16th and 18th centuries and situated 15 minutes from Aix-en-Provence, is exceptional for its remarkable ecosystem. 270 hectares of woodland surround its vineyards, providing a reserve of biodiversity and a preserved natural environment. Stretching from the Puyricard plateau up to the summit of the Trévaresse hills, at between 350 and 450 metres altitude, the estate’s 55 hectares of vines lie fully within the protected appellation area of Coteaux d’Aix-en-Provence.

Acquired by Agnès and Robert Daussun in 2014 with the aim of developing the great French art of hospitality, it offers a refined, elegant range of wines and a particularly warm and attentive welcome for visitors.

The vineyard is the object of constant and meticulous care with the greatest respect for nature and the terroir, and is currently undergoing conversion to organic agriculture. Winemaking is carried out in the same spirit, in close harmony with nature, thanks notably to the recently inaugurated new gravity-fed cellar. www.ChateauduSeuil.fr
