Judging a book by its cover: Anne of Green Gables

Everyone, it seems, wants to get in on the enduring appeal of L.M. Montgomery’s classic stories about feisty red-haired Anne Shirley, with new box sets hitting the shelves in the coming months from no fewer than three different publishers.

Simon & Schuster’s Aladdin imprint will release a box including four trade paperbacks of the original Anne books in October (the hardcover versions were released in January). Sourcebooks’ trade paper editions hit the shelves back in February, but were on prominent display recently at a downtown Toronto Indigo outlet. Tundra Books is putting out two box sets: a trade paper version featuring cover art by Elly MacKay in September, and a special collector’s set of hardcovers that will hit stores just in time for holiday shopping in November.

So, whose cover reigns supreme? Have a gander and vote for your fave in our online poll.
