Nothing New Under the Sun
That which has been is what will be, that which is done is what will be done, and there is nothing new under the sun. (Ecclesiastes 1:9)
King Solomon stated these words thousands of years ago and they ring true even now. There is truly nothing new under the sun. Yet with all this learning and never coming to the knowledge of truth, we have forgotten our past, our history. So with that in mind, here are seven things that are not new under the sun.
1) The Tower of Babel
“Come, let us build ourselves a city, and a tower whose top is in the heavens; let us make a name for ourselves, lest we be scattered abroad over the face of the whole earth.” (Genesis 11:4)
We know that God (the Trinity) came down from on high to destroy Nimrod’s idolatrous Tower of arrogance (Genesis 11). But did you know that the EU (European Union) is building it all over again! Scary huh?
2) Baal Worship
So Israel was joined to Baal of Peor, and the anger of the Lord was aroused against Israel. (Numbers 25:3)
Whether you’re making your children pass through the fire (see item #5), building golden calves, a practicing Mason, or simply just obsessed with your life on Wall Street, Baal worship is unfortunately alive and well. Help Holy Ghost!
3) Excessive Piercings & Tattoos
You shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor tattoo any marks on you: I am the Lord. (Leviticus 19:28)
Cuttings and piercings in the skin were a sign of pagan worship you could say the same of many who get tattoos today. Now obviously, if you have a tat of Jesus, your mother/child’s name, a humming bird, or some other innocent image, I personally don’t see a problem with it (although I’ve always thought tattoos ruined pretty skin). Yet I know, like so many things in this life (i.e. eating, drinking, painkillers, sex, etc.) that tattooing can become compulsive, addictive. Just ask my baby brother; he’s covered in them. And any addiction is NOT of God. (See next item.)
4) Cutting

So [the prophets of Baal and Asherah] cried aloud, and cut themselves, as was their custom, with knives and lances, until the blood gushed out on them. (I Kings 18:28)
In addition to Leviticus 19:28, we see a clear picture of cutting in the showdown between the pagan prophets and the prophet Elijah. They cut themselves “as was their custom,” and while Baal wasn’t not permitted to answer their call or the scent of blood, you know he was pleased--especially when all 850 of the prophets were slain and went below the earth to join him. And now today, we have emotional or “emo” cutters. I’m not sure how they think cutting their bodies will make them feel better, but it doesn’t give them a sort of pain-and-pleasure induced high. That is modern Baal worship.
5) Abortion
Also on your skirts is found the blood of the lives of the poor innocents. I have not found it by secret search, but plainly on all these things. Yet you say, “Because I am innocent, surely His anger shall turn from me.” Behold, I will plead My case against you, because you say, “I have not sinned.” (Jeremiah 2:34, 35)
The sacrificing of children, commonly called “passing your children through the fire,” was yet another form of Baal worship. In societies like Ancient Greece, Ancient Rome, and Viking/Germanic, they called it child exposure. Today we call it abortion. The reasons are basically the same now as they were then: convenience, favour with man, wealth (career), etc. But I bet you we’ve slain more babies before Baal than the ancients ever could have.
6) Worship of the Universe/New Age
For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them. For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse, because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened. Professing to be wise, they became fools, and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man—and birds and four-footed animals and creeping things. (Romans 1:18-23)
From original Baal and Ashtoreth worship, worship of the sun-god and moon-goddess, to the Olympic Pantheon of gods seated in the second heaven and their Roman counterparts, to Native American worship of the sky gods, worship of the heavens and universe has almost always existed. Now, we call it New Age. We pray to the universe instead of the God Who created it. It’s shameful idolatry.
7) Divination
And the Lord said to me, “The prophets prophesy lies in My name. I have not sent them, commanded them, nor spoken to them; they prophesy to you a false vision, divination, a worthless thing, and the deceit of their heart.” (Jeremiah 14:14)
The first mention of divination in the Bible is Joseph, the son of Jacob, playing his brothers by saying why did you still special cup? I use it for divination! But obviously, he was just messing with them, trying to pass himself off as an Egyptian (Genesis 44). Yet even though Joseph wasn’t really a diviner--he got his knowledge from the Only One capable of providing pure information (Genesis 41:14-16)--there are many who see no problem diving information through various objects. Like, I don’t know--JOSEPH SMITH, the founder of Mormonism. He received the Book of Mormon through divination--not the Holy Spirit of God! And even today, many consult mediums and psychics (false “light workers,” white witches) who give them information through seances, palm readings, tarot card readings, tarot card readings, etc.

There’s even a supposed “master prophet” who claims to be a Christian (he’s a liar) and “the most trusted name in prophecy” who has an entire page on his website dedicated to divination! Give him your personal information and he or his staff will give you a prophecy!! The man is a witch passing himself off as a Christian and his son, also trained in divination has graced many a pulpit and Christian TV show, deceiving the masses. Most of you know of whom I speak. God help us and save us!

So as you can see, there is literally NOTHING new under the sun. Pray for God’s Spirit to teach you the truth of these things. Try the spirits to see whether they be of God (I John 4:1-6) because most of these spirits floating around today are not! Pay attention to [y]our past so you’re not doomed to repeat it!
