STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- One woman's trip to the grocery store ended with the theft of her bag, after someone snatched it from her shopping cart.
Now, police are asking the public's help in identifying a woman wanted for questioning in connection with the grand larceny.
The incident occurred on Aug. 11 at 3:30 p.m., according to an emailed statement from the office of the NYPD Deputy Commissioner for Public Information.
Police said the victim, 45, was was shopping inside the Pathmark supermarket located at 2875 Richmond Ave. in New Springville when she left her bag unattended for a moment in a shopping cart.
That's when the suspect removed it, then left the store and fled the scene in an SUV, the statement reads.
The bag contained $650 in cash, according to an NYPD spokesman.
Police released surveillance photos of the suspect taken inside Pathmark, as well as the vehicle she fled in. The statement identified the woman as a suspect.
