About the dog

We recently adopted a rescued sled dog from Colorado Animal Rescue (CARE) in Glenwood Springs, CO. CARE had him since December, when several dogs from the Krabloonik mushing company at Snowmass Mountain (AspenSnowmass) were seized. You can see photos of the conditions at Krabloonik on the FB page Voices for the Krabloonik dogs. I’m glad in a way that it took so long for Harvey to find us. CARE did a great job helping to socialize him. This is what he looked like when they first brought him into the shelter.

Although we’ve only had this dog for 1.5 weeks, I feel confident it’s going to work out for him and us.

He’s a little skittish still, but he comes and sits and is starting to load up into the car (something he was very reluctant about at first). As a lab/greyhound mix, he’s both calm (unless there’s a squirrel) and loving by nature. We’re working on making him feel safe to be himself.
