CARY, N.C. -

The former president of the United States, NFL teams, Hollywood celebrities and more. They’ve all joined a wave of Americans participating in the Ice Bucket Challenge to raise money for the ALS Association, which said as of Friday, it has received $53.3 million in donations in less than a month.

And you can also count the auto business as part of those efforts.

For instance, at Akron Auto Auction, president Chad Bailey estimated on Friday the auction had raised more than $3,200 in only five days. Akron’s video can be seen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8nRVTku18qc.

The good folks at Splash Media — appropriately enough — shared a few Ice Bucket Challenge links with Auto Remarketing on Friday, as well: Kelley Blue Book chief executive officer Steve Lind challenged Autobytel CEO Jeff Coats, who then challenged Mike Maroone of AutoNation, John Holt of ADP Dealer Services, and Scott Painter of TrueCar. Those videos can be found below:

And don’t think we’re not going to dive in. Auto Remarketing editor Joe Overby took part in staff-wide challenge on Friday, and he’s challenging John Heid of Manheim, Chris Basso of Carfax and Jason Hockett of Auction Broadcasting Co. The video can be seen above.
