This is actually a repost from my former website that I wasn't able to transfer over, but I keep hearing such great things from you all about this post that I wanted to share it with you again! So I give you: "Jezebel was My BFF!" Enjoy!

I was introduced to Jezebel at a young age through a manipulative pastor’s wife and later through a college Hall Director with a personal vendetta against me. So you’d think that I’d be the most unlikely person in the world to befriend this same spirit. Well we both thought wrong. Yes, Jezebel was my BFF. And I was completely clueless to it until much later.

For those of you who may be unfamiliar with Jezebel, this is a spirit, usually in the form of a woman, who is mentioned in the Old and New Testament.

Jezebel in the Old Testament

Jezebel was the daughter of a pagan king-priest who served Baal (I Kings 16:31). (Ain’t that a mess that false religions understand the necessity of a royal-priesthood and Christians don’t??) She was married to THE most wicked king of Israel. Ever, (I Kings 16:29-34) massacred God’s prophets (I Kings 18:4), and put out a hit on the Prophet Elijah as well (I Kings 19:2). She also arranged the assassination of her neighbor, Naboth, to appease her jelly-backed husband (I Kings 21:1-16).

These are just a few of the things she accomplished in those days. Jezebel was a living breathing, human being, possessed by a malevolent spirit bearing the same name. She is a witch and the mortal, spiritual enemy of Elijah.

Jezebel in the New Testament

In the New Testament, Jezebel is a self-proclaimed prophetess as well as false teacher who seduced people into sexual immorality and idolatry (Revelation 2:20).

There is argument as to whether or not this woman in Thyatira is actually named Jezebel or simply operating in the spirit. I personally believe the woman is named Jezebel.

The Spirit of Jezebel

As previously mentioned, Jezebel is not only a person, but more importantly, a very real spirit. And this same spirit makes other appearances throughout the scripture.

• Absalom: The young man who tried to seduce his father David’s kingdom away from him. Also known as “the Absalom Spirit.” (II Samuel 13-15, 18)

• Athaliah: Jezebel's daughter married to their northern ally in Judah. When her son Ahaziah died, she, in true Medea fashion, killed all of her children (except Joash who escaped) and proclaimed herself queen. (II Kings 8:25-29; 11:1-3)

• Herodias: A member of the Herod Family who HATED John the Baptist (Spirit of Elijah), because he spoke against her for marrying her first husband Philip’s brother, Herod the Tetrarch. Unfortunately, she “won” his head on a platter. (Matthew 14:1-12)

In short, Jezebel is a manipulative, seducing spirit (a witch in human form) that seeks to gain its own way through aligning herself with and utilizing the power of the “king” (i.e. President, Pastor, CEO, etc.). She won’t sleep with you or kill you if she doesn’t have to, but she surely won’t think twice about it if she does. She hates, loathes, and despises the Spirit of Elijah and all that it entails.

The Spirit of Elijah vs. the Spirit of Jezebel

• Elijah Restores True Worship, Jezebel Promotes False Worship
• Elijah Restores Apostolic Authority, Jezebel Promotes Rebellion & Seduction
• Elijah Restores the Godly Prophetic, Jezebel Promotes the False Prophetic
• Elijah Restores Holiness, Jezebel Promotes Worldliness
• Elijah Restores Fatherhood, Jezebel Creates Eunuchs & Promotes "Yes Men"
• Elijah is Surrounded by Godly Individuals, Jezebel is Surrounded by Sons of Belial (Evil)

So now that you understand the spirit of Jezebel, you understand how wholly terrifying it is that I could have found myself so close to her.

How She Gained Access

We went to the same university and church and were close in age. She was a very anointed singer, prophetess-in-training, and intercessor. In short, it seemed we were two peas in a pod and I was encouraged by our leadership to befriend her. So I did.

We began to hang out and she quickly learned that I was in love with a young man I believed (read = wasn’t) was my husband. She soon revealed that she too believed a man in leadership, one that I was close to, was her husband. The relationship was inordinately sealed.

Your weaknesses, ignorance, or wickedness are the doorway that grants Jezebel entrance.

She even withstood questions about her reputation by others who didn’t want her encouraging my love interest. Jezebel is extremely patient. She knew that if she dropped me, she would lose her access gained through me to the object of her own affection. I swiftly placed her among my small group of best friends and soon, on a pedestal above all the others. Everyone did really; leadership included. She could do no wrong.

The Nature of Our “Friendship”

She was the “mature” one. She sang better, prayed longer, and I’m sure she thought she preached better, but the jury’s still out on that, lol. Everyone--including me--just knew she was more anointed than me. She outshone me in every way. But I didn’t care. I was just happy to be her friend and serve her in anyway I could.

We were always going places together. I spent the week-ends at her place. I was always thinking of what I could do for her, to help her. I even sat the man she loved down and PLEADED with him to realise that the right woman for him was in front of his face--and it wasn’t me!! He pretended to not understand, but he knew. He just wasn’t interested.

And here’s the most embarrassing part of all--we were “prayer partners.” “Our” husbands weren’t the only thing we prayed about, but they were certainly the number one concern. In short, this is where we both truly participated in the spirit of Jezebel.

Praying Your Own Will = Manipulation = Witchcraft = Jezebel’s Domain

There were times she’d actually snap at me, shush me, and reprimand me like I was a child, but because this didn’t happen often, I just told myself she didn’t really mean it.

The Result of Our “Friendship”

To make an extremely laborious and painful story short, she married my ex. He was my most recent boyfriend at the time. It took months, even years, to figure out what really happened, but in a nutshell this is what went down.

Jezebel ALWAYS needs an Ahab through which to operate. In this instance, it was a pastor she wanted to marry. But since he had no interest in her, she swooped down on my ex after he dumped me. Seriously, like two days later.

I saw his interest and warned her against it. He was NOT a person to be trusted, much less dated and she knew I knew this firsthand. I’d introduced them both so it wasn’t hard for me to recognize when the “meetings” thinly veiled as ministry appointments morphed into dates. She knew that his interest had transferred from me to her and she took full advantage of it. She’d found a new, willing Ahab.  

She scoffed at my warnings. At the time, I couldn’t really see what was going on with her. Meanwhile, I was sinking deeper and deeper into depression. There were times my back was so wracked with pain that I couldn’t move. My appetite continued to decrease, yet she still she kept up her treacherous behaviour. She was actually staying in my apartment, in my own room, when she started dating my ex.

For the longest time, I thought my ex, was the predator and she was the prey. But in retrospect, I can see that it was the other way around.

Ahab is exceedingly wicked and dangerous, but he doesn’t touch Jezebel’s depth of depravity.

In the end, Jezebel married her Ahab. They married the exact same month--down to the week--that this he’d been planning to marry me. They have children and have been setting up ministries all over the U.S. and abroad, leaving each location after they’ve done enough damage to threaten their reputation. There are many who chose and choose to look the other way concerning them. Yet in the words of Galadriel, “they were all of them deceived” (Fellowship of the Ring, J.R.R. Tolkien).

Watch & Pray

No one is above being deceived by Jezebel. NO ONE. It’s a very patient and seductive spirit. Let’s not forget the Church at Thyatira mistakenly accepted her as a prophetess and allowed her to teach (Revelation 2:20)!

The only way to prevent this infiltration is to watch and pray.

Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak. (Matthew 26:41, Mark 14:38)

Be watchful of your spiritual and physical environment.

Here are some traits to watch for:

• Forced/Coerced “Friendship.” This is not a natural, organic relationship. The friendship will likely be forced on you, despite your initial discomfort.

• Excessive Assistance. There’s nothing wrong with assistance, but this is service with a motive. This “help” is a form of seduction that causes you to ignore the red flags and grant them access through you to what they want. And when you’re no longer necessary, they’ll drop you so fast it’ll make your head spin. As C.S. Lewis said, witches “are terribly practical.” (The Magician’s Nephew)

• Ministerial Leadership. This person will usually have some type of delegated authority such as a lead intercessor, a house prophetess, a praise team leader, pastor in/of a women’s ministry, secretary, etc.

• Prophetic/Intercessory. This may actually be a truly gift from God. But over time, it will turn into a tool to manipulate others and bend them to her will.

• Surrounded by “Yes Men.” Jezebel had 850 prophets of Baal (450) and Ashtoreth (400) on her payroll. My own “BFF” had several. We used to clamber over each other to be near her and serve her. These appear to validate the “anointing” of the individual.

• Desire to be Near Male Leadership. This could be the CEO of company, a [lead] pastor, a governmental leader, etc. Whomever it is, Jezebel will see him as her ticket to power.

• Seeks to Remove Those in [Her] Way. If Jezebel considers you an impediment, then she will do her darndest to take you out. These days, instead of outright murder, she’s likely to pray against you which is the evangelical equivalent of witchcraft. This can have serious, deadly repercussions. Note my heavy oppression in the form of heavy depression, bodily pain, and a dangerously loss of weight to my already petite frame.

Do NOT underestimate Jezebel.

Tolerating Jezebel is the Same as Uniting with Her

And I gave her time to repent of her sexual immorality, and she did not repent. Indeed I will cast her into a sickbed, and those who commit adultery with her into great tribulation, unless they repent of their deeds. I will kill her children with death, and all the churches shall know that I am He who searches the minds and hearts... (Revelation 2:21-23)

God was explicitly clear on how He feels about Jezebel. He said He’d cast her AND her associates into a sickbed unless they repent!

He also says He’ll “kill her children with death” meaning that not only will the unrepentant Jezebel die, but everyone who’s bought into and been reproduced through her false ministry as well. This is a physical, certifiable death.

The Manifestation of Jezebel & Her Gruesome Death:

• Jezebel (Ahab’s Wife): Pushed from a window, trampled under Jehu’s chariot, and eaten by dogs (II Kings 9:30-37).

• Absalom: Joab ran 3 spears through him, and his 10 armor-bearers finished the job (II Samuel 18:1-18)

• Athaliah: Taken out of the Temple and slain by the sword by order of the High Priest (II Chronicles 23:12-21)

Nowadays, this death is more likely to take on the form of fatal illness. But all of this can be avoided.

If you are watchful, you can steer clear of this wicked spirit. Keep your ear and spirit attuned to God and He will alert you to this spirit in your family, social circle, church, business, etc.

Pray for God’s grace, protection, and forgiveness for all of your sins. Close EVERY open door and ask God to seal them and you with His blood so that Jezebel can’t probe you or gain a foothold in your life.

Final Note

There is almost always space for repentance. The spirit of Jezebel may not repent, but the humans who operate in it, participate in it, and tolerate it can most certainly repent.

God, through His loving grace, revealed my participation with this spirit to me whilst reading Possessing the Gates of the Enemy. Another friend from that circle had the same revelation. Godly repentance followed swiftly for us both! God is SO faithful! And now I can truly say:

JEZEBEL IS NOT MY BFF.
