Apple iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus are yet to hit retail stores in several parts of the world but we have already started hearing iPhone 8 rumours. Apple is widely rumoured to introduce new design next year when iPhone turns a decade old product.

According to KGI securities’ Ming-Chi Kuo, 2017 iPhone will feature glass front and back, similar to the iPhone 4 and 4s. According to KGI, Apple will call next year’s device iPhone 8 and not iPhone 7s. The popularity of Jet Black iPhone 7 is being seen as the reason for shift to glass front and back.

According to KGI, more than 40 per cent pre-order customers have opted for Jet Black iPhone 7 range and Apple is struggling to deliver with supply. KGI’s Ming-Chi Kuo feels use of all glass design will help the company offer glossy finish with all colour variants. Also use of glass will prevent Jet Black variant from scratches and other physical damages, notes KGI.

Apple is also reported to use 2.5D glass over 3D glass with the next generation iPhone. KGI says, “Customers prefer the glossy finish, but it’s difficult to manufacture in large quantities at the rate Apple needs.”

Apple is reported to reinvent iPhone design with next generation device. Apple is also likely to use stainless steel or aluminium casing metal casing with higher end models likely to get stainless steel. Apple seems to be returning to the design language first seen on iPhone 4 era. KGI had previously suggested that next iPhone will use OLED displays and one premium model getting curved glass like Samsung’s Galaxy S7 edge and Note 7.
