About this ebook

Twisting her hands together, she bites back a sob. She only turned her back for a second, and then her daughter was gone. Every mother in town would be hugging their children tighter tonight.

Lara is baking cupcakes when her six-year-old daughter Ava runs to catch the school bus just one block away. Chasing after her, Lara sees the bus tumbling past, and waves. But Ava never turns up at school.

Detective Ellie Reeves is in a race against time to find her––in missing child cases, every second counts. Searching the small town of Crooked Creek, she finds the girl’s bunny in the local park, the toy Ava carried around everywhere. Did Ava ever get on the bus?

While Ellie works around the clock, a local reporter gets a message: There are other missing girls out there. Digging into previous cases, Ellie discovers that another girl went missing on the same day the previous year. How many more could there be?

Ellie is certain that the date means something––and that the person who sent the message is the key. But the community is up in arms, everyone worried that their daughter will be next, and blaming Ellie. The pressure is mounting, and time is running out to bring little Ava home. Can Ellie solve the toughest case of her career––and save Ava––before it’s too late?

An utterly addictive and twist-packed thriller guaranteed to get your heart racing! Perfect for fans of Lisa Regan, Melinda Leigh and Kendra Elliot.

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for this ARC. I am giving this review voluntarily. Detective Ellie Reeves is a detective in Crooked Creek, Georgia. She has a heart for the downtrodden and needy. This is immediately evident in her actions in the story. A young girl, Ava, runs out of her house before her mom can catch her so that she can meet the bus. By the time her mother rounds the curve the bus is already pulling away. She obviously believes her daughter is on the bus. She goes home to take a short nap before her daughter's school Christmas party. When she gets to the school the teacher informs her that Ava never arrived. The teacher assumed Ava was just riding into school with her mother for the party. Needless to say she collapses from fear. The race is on to find this child before it is too late. This book was quite the thriller. I was literally on the edge of my seat flying through the pages. You would think they had the right answers, and then that would be a dead end. Rita Herron does a great job of keeping you hooked. If you like a book where you will keep guessing, this one is a good one for you. Even once you know what has happened to little Ava, you will not fully understand the dynamics behind the kidnapping immediately. All of the characters in the book were interesting. This was a captivating and riveting thriller that will have you up late into the night so you can finish it! This was a superb masterpiece of a mystery/thriller! I highly recommend this book for mystery/thriller lovers! I also loved the setting because it was in Georgia, and I recognized a lot of the scenery that was described!

BLOG TOUR REVIEW Review for 'Stolen Angels' by Rita Herron. Read and reviewed via NetGalley for Rita Herron, Bookouture publishers and Bookouture anonymous Publication date 27th January 2022. This is the fourth book I have read by this author. It is also the fifth book in the 'Detective Ellie Reeves' series but can be read as a standalone. I have previously read 'Wildflower Graves' which is the second book in this series, 'The Burning Girls' which is the third book in this series and 'Frozen Souls' which is the fourth book in this series and I would highly recommend reading them. I was originally drawn to this book by its stunning eye catching cover and its intriguing synopsis and title. The synopsis stated that this book is 'Perfect for fans of fans of Melinda Leigh, Lisa Regan and Kendra Elliot.' I am a huge fan of Melinda, Lisa AND Kendra so am looking forward to seeing if this lives up to this statement. I am also a huge fan of Rita and if this is as good as 'Wildflower Gr

Detective Ellie Reeves has had a lull in her cases until the call comes in about a missing child. A sudden shiver rippled through her, and she thought of Ms. Eula, the old woman who lived on the hill and who insisted that she heard whispers of the dead. This author has such a way with words it just sends a chill down your spine. The story was a pulse pounding fast paced ride from start to finish. This whole story was not at all what I expected. Heartbreaking and tragic with a shocking ending. Just another reason I love this author so much.
