Background

UNDP in Cyprus creates opportunities for both the Greek Cypriot (GC) and Turkish Cypriot (TC) communities to work together on concrete projects for the benefit of all people on the island, while at the same time promoting tolerance and mutual understanding.

We are soliciting interest from technical consultants in the following area to support our work:


•    Media & Digital Communications Consultants - for support services in the area of media and digital communications.

Duties and Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the K&I Practice Leader, the consultant will provide Media and Communications services to support the implementation of communications strategies utilising both traditional and digital media including:

  • Develop strong, clear and concise media messages and deliver them through appropriate channels.
  • Develop and maintain contacts with key media outlets, including web, print, TV and radio.
  • Grow online profiles, reputation, viewership and interactivity through development, placement and dissemination of timely, accurate and relevant content through main online channels including Facebook, Twitter, Tymblr, YouTube, Instagram, and others.
  • Design materials for digital and print advertising
  • Execute online campaigns to reach new or specific audiences.
  • Support the implementation of digital engagement strategies.
  • Ensure that all output is in keeping with the brand and style.
  • Promote events and activities through all channels.
  • Contribute significantly to writing across platforms including print, blogs, social media, and e-newsletters.

Required Skills and Experience

Education
  • Degree in Communications or Journalism or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

  •  2-3 years of experience in communications
  • Expertise in the areas of media and online engagement and public outreach.
  • Exceptional written communications skills, with ability to adapt style to suit different communications media and audiences.
  • Demonstrable experience of running social media channels and managing online communities.
  • Proven ability to manage public outreach events.
  • Excellent communication, networking, and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in graphic design software such as Adobe Photoshop or Adobe Illustrator is desirable.

Language
  • Excellent writing and editing skills in English – Greek and/or Turkish will be an asset.

Consultants will be selected in accordance with the procedure set out in the UNDP Procurement Guidelines and UNDP Financial Rules and Regulations. Individuals selected will be required to provide supporting documentation (Reference letters, examples of previous work) as well as a Fee Rate for the provision of such services.

Subsequent contract documents awarded to successful individuals will be issued in accordance with the rules and procedures of UNDP.
