A new backdating option is now available in the Cost of Goods (COGs) section of ManageByStats, according to MBS CEO, Philip Jepsen. This backdating option allows users to set cost values for any desired historical period. Until the new backdating feature was added users could only set a single cost value and apply it for all past transactions. COGs allows users to input the cost to manufacture and deliver a product to Amazon, which can then be used to more accurately calculate profit.
"We've been getting requests for this," says Mr. Jepsen. "Being able to specify changing costs over time is a key feature, and with this backdating option our users can now be very granular when assigning cost of goods."
ManageByStats is software for Amazon sellers. It is a suite of tools for managing Sales, Customers and Inventory. The software brings together information in a user's Amazon Seller Central account, and presents it in an easy to use, centralized manner. Amazon does not provide or store any Cost of Goods information. COGs info is important for figuring final profit, and MBS provides for the entry of these values. With the new backdating feature, different values can be specified for different time periods in the past, in order to more accurately reflect the real profit when calculated against sales info.
"It just brings us one step closer to Amazon Seller nirvana," says Mr. Jepsen. "On Amazon there's no way to tell your profit as there is no provision for the costs. In ManageByStats you could add these costs, but the accuracy was impacted by the fact that you could only set one cost for all historical transactions. This new feature opens up a new era of profit calculation."
MBS users are invited to take a look at the SKUs section of their Settings to see the new COGs backdating option and how it can be used.
