IMAX patrons were eager to get back to the big screen amid the launch of the new safe zone policy earlier today.

Marketing Manager Kristina Celestine told Loop News that ticket bookings have been encouraging, with over 300 tickets pre-booked for this week to date.

The team is also looking forward to added activity with the launch of the latest James Bond film No Time to Die, which will be at IMAX theatres from Wednesday.

Government's new safe zone system, which launched today, involves the re-opening of dine-in restaurants, cinemas, water parks, theatres, casinos, bars and other recreational businesses to fully vaccinated customers.

Fully vaccinated customers will be able to enjoy seated dining and other indoor activities as per the latest health regulations.

Plans for digital vaccination cards are also in the works.

Patrons will still need to wear face masks upon entry, and the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) said only fully vaccinated police officers will be patrolling safe zones.

Only unvaccinated employees with a Medical Exemption Certificate or a Medical Deferral Certificate issued by only by medical officer can gain entry to safe zones.

Businesses found in breach of the regulations face a $25,0000 fine, while unvaccinated people found in safe zones may be fined $5,000.
