The Department of Agriculture has confirmed the deadline for GLAS wild bird cover has been extended.

The new deadline is now 14 June.

At a meeting with the department yesterday, the IFA said rural development chair Joe Brady “got a commitment that the completion date for wild bird cover under GLAS will be extended until mid-June.”

The IFA added that it had sought an extension in light of the recent poor weather conditions.

Farmers who have opted for the wild bird cover action in GLAS now have until 14 June to sow the spring crop in order to realise the €900/ha/year payment.
