On Thursday February 16th MSNBC finally took action in response to Pat Buchanan’s long and documented history of outrageous racism, and terminated their relationship with him. For the last four years Buchanan’s daily coded and often blatant racist attacks and disinformation regarding the First Black President of the United States has been forced on viewers for three hours every weekday morning.

However Buchanan was suspended after the publication of his latest book "Suicide of a Superpower.” In it he continues his White Supremacist and White Nationalist propaganda, most notably with chapters titled “The End of White America” and "The Death of Christian America." Phil Griffin, President of MSNBC said he didn't think Buchanan's book "should be part of the national dialogue, much less part of the dialogue on MSNBC," and Pat Buchanan hasn’t been on air since he began promoting the book.

Yet in a final insult and display of total disregard and contempt for their viewers, instead of apologizing for the years of ignorance and insensitivity, Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski released a statement completely dismissing the impact and violation of Buchanan’s incessant racism with baseless First Amendment deflection - in a feeble attempted at turning the issue into a matter of Buchanan’s “Free Speech” rights being violated.

"Everyone at Morning Joe considers Pat Buchanan to be a friend and a member of the family. Even though we strongly disagree with the contents of Pat's latest book, Mika and I believe those differences should have been debated in public. An open dialogue with Morning Joe regulars like Al Sharpton and Harold Ford, Jr. could have developed into an important debate on the future of race relations in America."

This deflection of responsibility for propagating racist hate and ignorance is as much a part of American Racism as Pat Buchanan calling the President “Boy,” and has been used to excuse dissemination of racist ignorance since the 1800s. This transparent method of legitimizing racism can no longer be tolerated.

Scarborough’s laughable claim to believe “sunlight is the best disinfectant” is instantly belied by Joe’s long standing and documented policy of blocking all twitter viewers that disagree with his daily revisionist disinformation based on such irrefutable journalist investigations like “Every Democrat I know says such-and-such.” Joe ensures that the only avenue viewers have to refute his fact-less narratives is completely blocked while he has the likes of Harold Ford grinning and nodding in agreement to every twisted notion Joe utters or Al Sharpton talking about blueberry pie, and has the temerity to call it ‘sunlight’ and ‘public debate.’ Anyone who wants to know how viewers really feel about @JoeNBC’s daily fraud need only read his twitter stream – something Joe makes sure he can’t – and see for yourself how wildly different the ‘debate’ viewers are having is versus the ‘debate’ the Morning Joe talking heads have amongst themselves.

The fact that even after MSNBC can no longer deny the racist ignorance espoused by Buchanan, yet Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski will still not admit to it proves their complicity and support (informed or otherwise) of that racism. If these people are incapable of understanding or accepting the harm their ignorance inflicts on the viewers and the national dialog, they too must be taken off air. Morning Joe has significantly contributed to the ignorant and false narratives believed by the target demographic of such racism, and as a result has caused incalculable damage and impediment to the prospects and accomplishments of the First Black Presidency of the United States. It’s time to put an end to Mainstream Media tolerance and propagation of racist ignorance, and Phil Griffin needs to lead by example and clean up MSNBC.
