Over the past month, the world has looked on in horror as the people of Ukraine have been subjected to the unbridled brutality of Vladmir Putin's regime. Ukrainian forces have put up admirable and brave resistance in an effort to defend their homeland, but the ongoing war has resulted in millions of innocent people being driven from their homes, displaced or killed due to the indiscriminate shelling of Russian forces. Those Ukrainians who have managed to escape their homeland have had to walk hundreds of kilometres to safety, often fleeing to the nearest NATO border state along perilous routes. The war rages on and as of this week, areas once considered out of reach of Russian forces such as Lviv have come under heavy shelling.

We have all wondered what we can do to help, especially from so far away. In response to this and in support of the people of Ukraine, the staff of St George's will be undertaking a 24 hour walk of 80km, the equivalent distance from Lviv to the Polish border, to raise money for UNICEF. Any money raised will go towards supporting relief of the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Ukraine and the neighbouring states who have been accepting Ukrainian refugees. The walk will take place between Friday 29^th April and Saturday 30^th April.
