The Media Relations Manager has a leadership role in developing and implementing communication strategies for Froedtert Hospital using traditional and new media outlets. Reporting to the Director of Media Relations, this position requires a solid understanding of the organization’s goals, strategic positioning, clinical programs and service lines. This person is the designated backup for the Media Relations Director, a role that involves interacting with hospital leaders and physicians and assuming responsibility for managing the hospital’s media initiatives and response in the Director’s absence, including managing crisis communication, high-profile situations and controversial issues. The Media Relations Manager also plays a key role with the media relations team in creating and executing media plans and budget, targeting appropriate clinical programs, media outlets and audiences to contribute to enhanced understanding and appreciation for the hospital and its value to the community.

Experience: Requires 6-10 years of experience in public relations, with health care public relations preferred. Accreditation in Public Relations (APR) a strong plus.

Education:
Bachelor's degree in Communication, Public Relations, Journalism or related field.

Special Skills:
Demonstrated success in media relations, with broad understanding of media channels including online and social media as well as traditional outlets. Possess effective oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated good judgment, strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
