Tips or Trends Tuesday: Trend: Edible Favors

Well, I have to apologize if today’s narrative is a bit sparse. After saving the draft of today’s post, the site decided I needed to log in again and my narrative decided to go bye bye. Let’s see what I can re-create.

Back in the olden days of the 1980s and 90s, wedding favors consisted primarily of Jordan Almonds wrapped in tulle, random personalized plastic trinkets, and matchbooks. It didn’t matter what the color scheme (back then, typically white and one other color) or the theme of the wedding, you could just about bet your life that you were coming away with those hard as a rock “edibles” and that you were going to add to your “in case I forget my lighter” bits. Even I was guilty of the tulle circle wrap up (in 1998), but my ex and I thought WAY outside the box and instead of those dental emergency almonds, we thought we were revolutionaries as we put Hershey’s Hugs and kisses in those circles:

Over the past few years, couples have begun to rethink old school favors and are considering options that reflect who they are as a couple as well as the overall vision for their wedding. The big time trend over the past year or so…edible favors. Why give your guests dental emergencies wrapped in tulle or a plastic thingie with your name and face on it when you can give them a fun treat to take home? Here are a few examples of some great edible favors:

  1. Some of these are great! I especially love the pie pops. If I could cook I might try something like those, but as it is I think I’m going to stick with making candles with our wedding logo on them.
