You are invited on Sunday, April 15 to Empty Bowls 2012, an exciting and fun-filled event in support of Family Promise of San Gabriel Valley.
For $25, you will be able to purchase a beautifully handcrafted soup bowl made by local artisans and then enjoy a delicious soup donated by local restaurateurs.
All proceeds will go to Family Promise, a nonprofit 501c3 organization that brings local faith congregations together to shelter and feed homeless families, provide them social support, and help them find employment and housing. As a participant, you will be able to take your soup bowl home as a reminder that some people have an empty bowl not by choice, but by unfortunate circumstances.
Empty Bowls also feature local musicans performing and drawings for beautifully themed gift baskets. Local artisans will offer their jewelry and pottery for sale at the event. They include renowned San Gabriel Valley ceramist Robert Maxwell. Maxwell and the artisans have agreed to share a percentage of the proceeds with Family Promise.
