Make plans to attend Millville's Memorial Day parade

MILLVILLE - The 96th annual Millville Memorial Day Parade will be form at 8:15 a.m. May 30 at Nabb-Leslie American Legion Post 82, 220 Buck St.

The parade begins at 9 a.m. and will proceed down Veterans Way to High Street, south on High to Main Street, then west on Main to Mount Pleasant Cemetery; there will be a pause at the Maurice River Bridge for a Naval Memorial Service.

Donald W. Robbins, a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy who served on the USS Spartanburg County during deployment for Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm, will be the keynote speaker. Robbins is a managing director for Wells Fargo Advisors. He is a member of the American Legion and is the Americanism Chairman for Post 82 and Cumberland County Boys State Program.

Owen Garrison, a World War II Naval veteran, will be the parade marshal. Garrison was stationed aboard the USS Montgomery in the Pacific and saw combat in 13 actions including Saipan and Iwo Jima.

Following the service at the Mount Pleasant Veterans Monument, there will be a reception for all participants at Post 82.
