Praise for Rosen Trevithick

"Brilliant."
- The Independent
"I've been reading The Troll Trap during guided reading sessions with my year 5 children. Quite simply, they love it! The smiles on the children's faces, their sniggering and eagerness for the next session are an absolute joy."
- D. Spiteri (Year 5 Teacher)
"You can tell that Ms Trevithick was a fan of Roald Dahl when she was growing up. The stinky trolls in this story are reminiscent of the giants in The BFG and, if possible, even more revolting. Her strong authorial voice and witty prose will appeal to parents as much as children; I caught myself chortling out loud at least every other page."
- Rebecca Davies (The Independent)
"You'll probably never look at a slowcooker in quite the same way again after reading this....or your child's My Little Pony."
- Mrs. M. A. Tolcher (Amazon Reviewer)

Mel Comley on Cruel Justice, KDP Select and Grit

Mel Comley, Author of the DI Lorne Simpkins series, has been kind enough to give us an interview. Like many indie authors, she has just taken the step of putting some of her titles on KDP Select. Here she tells us why, and what she thinks of the programme so far.

Tell us a little about your books?

I write gritty, fast-paced thrillers. I currently have a trilogy out that centres around my main character of DI Lorne Simpkins. My books tend to have a lot of conflict in them. Anyone who likes James Patterson style thrillers will like them. I have also found time to write a couple of romances over the years too.

What made you decided to try KDP Select?

I think if your books aren't in the Select programme they will get neglected. Amazon help promote authors in Select. The jury is still out on it for me though.

Which book did you choose and why?

I've put a couple of novelettes and my romance novella, A Time To Heal as free books so far and had mixed results. The novella rose to #300 in the chart and I've had quite a few paid sales on it since.

Is your book free at the moment?

My best rated thriller, Cruel Justice went free yesterday and I've already seen more sales on the other books in the series. That means people read and liked the first one, doesn't it? ;-)

How have you found KDP Select so far?

A stressful experience to be honest. It's a little disheartening that as authors we've sweated blood and tears over our novels for months that we have to offer our books for free, in order to gain any kind of recognition.

But Amazon have us eating out of the palms of their hands, don't they?

Thanks to Mel for the interview. Have you put any of your books in the KDP Select programme? If so, let us know what you think.
