Police believe the same person is responsible for stealing a pickup truck, driving it through the front entrance of a hospital, and robbing a convenience store – all within 30 minutes.

Around 1:15 a.m. Monday, Haldimand County OPP say, a white pickup truck was reported stolen from a farm equipment supplier on Fourth Line south of Caledonia.

It’s believed the stolen truck was the same one that smashed into the West Haldimand General Hospital in Hagersville about 10 minutes later, causing significant damage to the hospital’s entrance.

Twenty minutes after that, police were notified of a robbery at a convenience store on Talbot Street West in Jarvis.

A man allegedly walked into the store, displayed a weapon, took a money tray out of the cash register, and left in what police say is the same truck.

Police describe the man as being 5’7” or 5’8” tall. They say he was wearing a black hoodie, a grey zippered sweatshirt, and black “skater” shoes with white soles, and was last seen driving northbound away from Jarvis on Highway 6.

The truck is described as being a white, 2006 Chevrolet Silverado, with a blue-and-golf box featuring a large white leaf design, and decals from New Holland Agriculture.

Anyone with information is asked to call police or Crime Stoppers.
