Police are investigating a video that was sent to CTV of mink being released from a Brant County Farm.

Hundreds of mink were released Friday night , many of them young kits.

Of the 500 mink released, 400 have been recovered but officials say it’s likely the ones in the wild won’t survive.

A group calling itself the Willow Pond Mink Freedom Movement is claiming responsibility for freeing the mink.

They sent the video of the release to CTV. Along with the video they sent an email saying: ‘Life in a dirty , stinking cage is no life at all… seeing these animals touch the grass for the first time every gave us an indescribable feelings of joy.’

This is the fourth time in the last year that mink have been freed from farms in the area.

The OPP is looking to see if this latest incident is connected to the other releases that have taken place.

There is a $75,000 reward offered by the Mink Breeders Association for information leading to a conviction .
